## Prohibited signs in Oakland

- Signs in a required yard adjoining a street property line that interfere with driveway visibility.
- Moving, flashing or animated signs, balloons or similar inflated signs, portable signs, searchlights, flags, pennants, streamers, spinners or similar devices, except as specifically authorized by the Planning Director.
- Signs with lighting, colors, design or text that could be confused with a public traffic directional sign or control device.
- Signs with references to obscene matter violating California Penal Code Section 311 et seq.
- Exterior signs made of impermanent materials that will not withstand exposure to weather.
- Signs affixed to vehicles or trailers on public streets or public/private property unless the vehicle/trailer is used in its normal business capacity and not solely to attract business.
- No sign may exceed the maximum height applicable to facilities in general where located, except as otherwise provided.

- Illumination must be indirect and nonflashing unless specifically allowed.
