## Prohibited signs in Mooresville

- Unless exempted by this section, a sign shall not be constructed, erected, moved, enlarged, illuminated, altered, maintained, or displayed except in accordance with the sign standards in Section 5.11.
- Any sign constructed, erected, moved, enlarged, illuminated, altered, or displayed without first obtaining a Sign Permit is prohibited, unless the sign is specifically exempted from the permit requirement by this UDO.
- Displays and decorations shall not be installed on rooftops of buildings used for non-residential purposes, even if the display or decoration does not advertise a service or item for sale, except between November 1 and January 31.
- No part of a sign or its supporting structure shall be located in a sight triangle.
- Ornamentation such as caps, spires, and finials shall not extend more than one foot from the top of the sign.
- The use of berms or raised landscape area shall not be used to increase a sign height, except to raise the base of the sign to the mean elevation of the fronting street.
