## Prohibited signs in Pawtucket

- No sign will be permitted as a main or accessory use except in accordance with the provisions of this Article.
- Signs determined to constitute a traffic hazard by the Chief of Police, or other safety hazard by the Director of Zoning and Code Enforcement, are prohibited.
- Flashing/electronic signs: Signs with lights or illumination which flashes, moves, rotates, scintillates, blinks, flickers, varies in intensity or color or uses intermittent electrical pulsations are prohibited.
- Utility poles owned by any governmental agency or utility company shall not be used for any type of sign or message other than those specifically erected by such agency or company.
- No person shall place, maintain or display upon or in view of any highway an unauthorized sign, signal, marking or device which imitates, resembles, or interferes with an official traffic-control device or attempts to direct the movement of traffic.
- No person shall place or maintain upon any highway any traffic sign or signal bearing any commercial advertising.
- No person shall place or affix any advertisement, signs, sandwich-board signs, or any other type of sign or advertisement or sell, store or maintain any materials, products or merchandise on any public sidewalk, footwalk, utility pole or similar object within the City, except with appropriate permit.
- No vehicle or stand or other vending-related item shall touch, lean against or be affixed to any building or structure, including but not limited to lampposts, parking meters, mailboxes, traffic signal stanchions, fire hydrants, tree boxes, benches, bus shelters, refuse baskets or traffic barriers.
- No racks, placards, display boards, signs, vending tables, vending pushcarts or other devices may be more than 60 inches tall; umbrellas and canopies no more than 84 inches from the ground at vending locations.
