The Story Behind PermitPal
PermitPal was founded by two brothers who saw a pressing problem in the sign industry and decided to solve it together. One of the brothers ran a successful sign company, but as his business grew, so did the complexity of dealing with municipal regulations and city codes. Every project required extensive research into zoning laws, compliance restrictions, and permit requirements—an incredibly time-consuming process riddled with bureaucratic hurdles. These unnecessary complications made it difficult to scale his business efficiently. Frustrated with the inefficiency, he turned to his brother, a software engineer with a background in building automation and data-driven solutions. Together, they realized that technology could eliminate much of the manual work and frustration that sign companies face when dealing with permitting. And so, PermitPal was born
From Side Project to Industry Solution
What started as a small side project quickly gained traction. As they developed PermitPal, they began working with sign companies and permit expeditors, refining the platform to address real-world challenges. The feedback was clear—navigating city ordinances should not be a barrier to business growth. Today, PermitPal is still in beta but is rapidly expanding, taking on more clients, and continuously enhancing its capabilities.
