  • Signs which are structurally unsound or rendered structurally sound by guy wires or unapproved facing/bracing are prohibited.
  • No sign shall be placed on a vehicle or trailer that is parked or located primarily to display the sign (except buses, taxis, or vehicles operating during normal business).
  • Pole signs with poles greater than three (3) feet in height are prohibited, except outdoor advertising signs and signs in the interstate zone.
  • Signs installed, erected, enlarged, or structurally altered in violation of this Ordinance are prohibited.
  • Signs erected on or that project above a roof line or above the face of flat roofed buildings (i.e., roof signs) are prohibited.

Exempt Signs in Ridgeland

  • Official public notices and notices posted by public officers in the performance of their duties.

  • Flags or emblems of the United States, the State of Mississippi, any other state or nation or their political subdivisions, or any institution of higher learning, subject to area and height limits and flown in accordance with protocol.   • Athletic field signs for civic organizations must be governed by submitted sign standards approved by the Architectural Review Board before a permit is issued.
  • Any proposed change, repair, or maintenance to a non-conforming sign that amounts to more than fifty percent (50%) of the current market value of the sign requires the sign to be brought into compliance with the ordinance.
