  • Any sign erected or maintained within five feet of the public rights-of-way shall be smooth and free of protruding objects, nails, tacks, and wires.
  • Permanent signs of eight feet in height or less shall be monument type.
  • Attached permanent signs and freestanding signs shall be designed to resist wind load and to receive dead load as required by the city building code.
  • The structural elements of permanent signs shall be constructed of materials that are noncombustible and may be supported by noncombustible materials only and finished in a presentable manner. Wood or unpainted steel supports are prohibited.

  • No person shall locate, place or attach any sign, paper or other material, to a tree, tower, public utility pole or structure, public building, street light, public fence, public right-of-way, fire hydrant, bridge, park bench, or other public structure or property, or mark on any sidewalk, curb, gutter, or street, except for allowed signs.
  • Any sign which is not specifically described and allowed by this chapter.
  • Prohibited signs may be removed without prior notice by city officials.
  • No sign can be placed in the 20-foot traffic sign triangle if the sign or sign post is more than 18 inches wide at a point below eight feet.
